Frequently Asked Questions
General Info and Programs
Where is the Concord Hills pool located?
The pool is located in the Concord Hills Subdivision off of Concord Road in Farragut. The physical address is 10731 Farragut Hills Blvd, Farragut, TN 37934
How long is the summer swim season?
The summer swim season begins in late May and runs through July. Swim Team practice begins the week after the last day of school in Knox County and concludes with the GKAISA (Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swim Association) City Championship Meet Finals Day - usually the last Sunday in July. We have an end of year team party after City Meet each year.
Who can be on the team?
Swimmers of all ages and skills are welcome on our team. We have age groups for 8yrs and under all the way through Seniors who have just graduated from high school. Typically our youngest regular team swimmers are 5, but any child who can make it down the length of the pool, even with a stop to catch his/her breath, is welcome. For those 4 & 5 year-olds who cannot meet that requirement, we offer a Jr. Piranha pre-swim team program.
What is the Junior Piranhas Program?
The Junior Piranha program is a pre-swim team training program intended for our younger kiddos (beginning at age 4) who are eager to be part of the swim team but maybe lack the stamina, skills, and/or confidence for the competition portion of swim team.
Our Jr. Piranhas will practice five mornings a week from 12-12:30 pm.
Our coaching staff will evaluate each swimmer's progress regularly and at the coach's discretion, your Jr. Piranha will participate in their first swim meet!
When your kiddo is ready for their first meet we call this “getting capped!” – getting to put on the official Piranhas swim cap.
Extra Swim Lessons
Most of the coaches are available for additional swim lessons for your swimmer. Arrangements are made between you and the coach. Fees are paid directly to the coach with each setting their own fee. The pool is available to swim team members for lessons, with our coaches Monday - Friday afternoon.

When is swim team registration?
2026 Swim Team online registration will open soon. Please click on the box on the home page of the website. Registration is totally online now with no paper documents to turn in. We will have a kick off event in May; meet the coaches, prior year spirit gear for sale, information about ordering swim suits, etc. Board members will be at the pool for the May Kick off Event if anyone needs help with the registration process. Registration and payment of fees MUST be completed prior to participation in practice or meets.
How do I get a team suit? Where can I get other gear?
More information on the 2026 team swim suit coming soon! As always, purchasing a team suit is optional. Goggles, practice suits, and other swim gear may be purchased locally at Swim & Tri at 5921 Kingston Pike in Bearden.

- 1st swimmer - $195
- 2nd swimmer - $175
- Jr. Piranhas - $225 (Monday-Friday)
**If you live in Concord Hills, you must be a pool member in order to join the swim team unless you have a functioning, permanently installed pool at your Concord Hills residence. This requirement is part of our pool-use agreement with the homeowners' association and is non-negotiable.**
Fees for Non-Pool Members
- 1st swimmer - $260
- 2nd swimmer - $200
- Jr. Piranhas - $275 (Monday-Friday)
**If you are not a pool member, you are required to leave as soon as practice is over.**
Fees must be paid by credit card during the registration process. Credit card payments do not incur a processing charge collected by the credit card company.
Swim Team fees pay for coach’s salaries, team t-shirt, first swim cap, meet entry fees, end of year swimmer gift, items needed for running swim meets, pool-use fees for non-members, and celebrations/socials throughout the season. Swimsuits, goggles, etc. are not included in the registration fee.
What is pool membership?
Pool membership is not a requirement to join the Concord Hills Swim Team. However, many families, both those in the neighborhood and those in nearby communities, enjoy full access to the Concord Hills Recreation Club facilities by joining the pool. Pool members also have the benefit of reduced swim team fees. If you are interested, visit the Concord Hills Rec Club website for more information.
Practices
Can my child attend morning or evening practice? Or both?
Yes. Swimmers can attend either morning or evening practice depending on their daily schedules, summer camp schedules, etc. They may also attend practice twice a day, morning and evening, if they would like to work on their conditioning, but in the case of an over-crowded evening practice, swimmers who were unable to attend that morning will be given priority.
What happens if it rains before practice or during practice?
In case of rain, practice continues as scheduled. If lightening and/or thunder occurs, swimmers will not be allowed in or will clear the pool until lifeguards deem it safe to begin/resume practice. The coaches will decide whether to wait for weather to clear or cancel the remainder of practice.
Is it okay to miss practice or meets?
Meet participation is not determined by practice attendance. Attending practice every day will help your swimmer prepare for meets and allow coaches to monitor their progress for event placement. Swimmers who practice regularly will naturally see more improvement over the season. We do, however, understand and respect that families have varying schedules through the summer.
Remember that evening practices are available when your swimmer is participating in day camps. If you have a summer vacation scheduled, it is okay to miss a few practices and/or a meet. We hope that not too many practices or meets are missed, but we also understand that summer vacations are important to families. Please communicate clearly with the coaches in advance of extended absences and RSVP appropriately when you expect to miss a meet.
Meets
When are the swim meets and how many are there?
Swim meets are approximately once a week on weeknights from 5:30 – approximately 9:30pm. The schedule is usually set for the season by GKAISA in early April. There is 1 intrasquad practice meet and 4 regular dual meets. Approximately half of these meets will be held at home at the Concord Hills Pool - the remaining meets will be away meets at the pools of the other teams in our league. There are also 2 regional meets held on weekends in July – the Smoky Mountain Invitational and GKAISA City Meet. Please check the calendar for this year's swim meet dates.
What are the events in a swim meet?
The events at a swim meet are freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, individual medley, medley relay and free relay. The medley events will include all 4 swim strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Events are also broken down into age categories: 8 & under, 9 & 10 year olds, 11 & 12 year olds, 13 & 14 year olds, and 15 to 18 year olds. Ages are determined by your swimmer’s birthday – the cutoff for each age group is midnight May 31st.
How many events does each child swim in a dual swim meet?
In a dual meet, each swimmer may only compete in a maximum of 4 total events in any combination – either 4 individual events, 3 individual and 1 relay, or 2 individual and 2 relay events. The coaches determine in which events to place your swimmer - balancing 1) what stroke your swimmer is best at and 2) how to earn the most points to maximize the team’s chances to win a meet.
What is the distance swum at a meet?
10 & under swimmers will swim one length of the pool – either 25 yds or 25 meters - depending upon the pool size. 11 & up swimmers will swim two laps – or 50 yds/meters - in the individual events. Individual medleys and relays will be either 100 yds/meters (4 laps of 25) or 200 yds/meters (4 laps of 50) depending upon the age group.
How do I sign my child up for a swim meet?
Swim meet sign-ups are done online at the Concord Hills website. You must RSVP with a Yes or No by the deadline given by the coaches. Instructions will be updated once meets are scheduled.
What is the Smoky Mountain Invitational Meet?
The Smoky Mountain Invitational Meet(SMI) is a Saturday-Sunday, regional meet with about 40 teams competing. This meet is for summer league swimmers only - year-round swimmers who have competed in a USA sanctioned meet after Aug 1 of the previous year meet are ineligible to swim in this meet. SMI is held at Maryville-Alcoa Flying Dolphins pool and is usually held in mid-July. Swimmers 11 & up swim on Saturday, and Swimmers 10 & under swim on Sunday. Check the GKAISA Meet Info Quick Chart on our website's Team Manual section for event order, scoring, etc. for this meet.
What is the GKAISA Championship Meet?
The GKAISA Championship Meet (City Meet) is a Thursday-Saturday regional meet for summer league AND year-round swimmers who are part of summer league teams. This meet is held at the end of July at the Allan Jones Pool on the UT campus. Swimmers 11 & older swim on Friday, swimmers 10 & under swim on Saturday, and Finals for all age groups are held on Sunday.
