PIRANHAS IN THE WATER!!!!

It is FINALLY time, and we could not be more excited. We have a great team of 6 coaches and one junior assistant. In a season where other teams are struggling to find assistants at all, we are absolutely thrilled to have a talented, full staff of coaches led by Breanna Folk. As we get started this Tuesday, we have some important information to go over. Please read thoroughly, even if you are a returning family.

Team Practice Begins Tuesday, May 29th

*all age groups are based on age as of 5/31/18

Morning Swim Practice – Monday through Friday

We have the wonderful problem of a large 10 & U group this season. We are addressing this by removing overlap of pool time between the 9-10s and 8 & Unders, and Breanna will be evaluating the morning practices carefully this week to see if any further adjustments need to be made.

• 9:00 am – 10:15 am Seniors and Advanced Swimmers
• 10:10 am – 11:00 am 11 - 14 year olds
• 10:50 am – 11:30 am 9 - 10 year olds
• 11:20 am - 12:00 pm 8 and under
• 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm Jr. Piranhas (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur)

Afternoon Swim Practice – May 29th to June 21st, Monday - Thursday

June 25th to July 25th, Monday and Wednesday only

• 4:45 pm – 5:30 pm 10 & Under (excluding Junior Piranhas)
• 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm 11 & Over

What to bring to practice – Each swimmer needs to have a water bottle at practice to stay hydrated in the heat. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen, bring your towel, and wear goggles and swim cap if you like.

RainedOut Subscription

In case of inclement weather, we use the RainedOut system to notify the team of the status of meets and practices. Please sign up for these notifications at ConcordHills Piranhas RainedOut. You will need to enter the mobile number or email where you wish to receive notifications.

Parent Meetings and Team Social - Thursday, May 31

Parents & Popsicles - Mandatory Parent Meeting for new AND returning parents

• 5:15 PM - Please do everything you can to have one parent or guardian per family attend the Annual Parent Meeting. Following the meeting, we will have frozen treats-on-a-stick available for everyone, parents and swimmers alike.

Swim Team 101 - New Parent Info session

• After the Parent Meeting concludes, there will be a time for new parents to learn how our team works & what a meet is like as well as ask questions of our board and coaches.

Make-Up Parent Meeting – Monday, June 4^th

• 10:30 AM – For any parents who are unable to attend our May 31^st evening meeting, we will have a second opportunity on Monday morning for both new and returning parents, followed by Swim Team 101 for new parents.

Fee Balance Notice – June 4th – Last Day to Pay Fees

All open fees are due and payable by Monday, June 4th. Please see a board member to pay any balance or discuss extenuating circumstances so that your swimmer will be able to continue swimming. We thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter

Certified Officials Training – PLEASE READ

WE NEED MORE CERTIFIED OFFICIALS TO HELP RUN OUR MEETS. Becoming certified is not very difficult, and the volunteer positions for those certified are not as intimidating as the title might sound.

NEW – We are offering a $25 discount on next season's swim team fees for anyone who becomes certified and works at least 4 shifts as a Meet Ref, Starter, and/or Stroke & Turn Judge this summer. Please let us know if you plan to become certified

• To become certified, an adult must attend one FREE 2-3 hour training event and complete an open-book, online test AT HOME.  All can be done in one evening.
• Positions requiring certification - Meet Ref and Starter must be certified, but we need newly certified officials to serve as Stroke & Turn Judges.

Stroke & Turn Judge: Evaluates proper execution of strokes, turns, and touches by swimmers in assigned lanes. Records infraction, event, heat, and lane number, signature, and gives judging slip to DQ runner.

Meet Declaration and Volunteer Sign-ups

For each meet, families must declare “attending” or “not attending” for each swimmer as well as sign up for a volunteer position for the meet on our website (Does not apply to families with Jr. Piranhas only). To reduce the incidence of changes in status & job sign up, we will be opening these options individually for each meet. Opening dates/times will be announced ahead of time. On the website, you can select the events tab or click directly from the home page list of events to enter this process. We will post detailed instructions on the website by Monday for those who need guidance.

*For Returning Families - Please be willing to sign-up for the worker positions that require a little more experience, especially at the early meets, so we can help acclimate the new families.  We have 40+ new families and need your help welcoming and teaching them!

*For New Families – there are detailed explanations of all of the volunteer jobs at meets in the Handbook page of the website on the Team Info tab. Those jobs labeled GFNF are particularly Good For New Families. We will also go over these at Swim Team 101.
